Another potential sign that Peyton Manning and the Colts are breaking up: Peyton is no longer working out at the team facility.
According to Duke Blue Devils’ offensive lineman Matt Skura, Peyton Manning is working out in Durham on Duke’s campus. Duke head coach David Cutcliffe was Manning’s offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee.
He has remained close to the Manning family for nearly 20 years, also coaching two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli at Ole Miss.
This news comes to us from Duke Hoop Blog, via PFT.
Now, with Manning no longer throwing and working out at the Colts facility, this is going to bring up the question, why?
Why leave Indianapolis to workout somewhere else when Indy has been the place Peyton's been rehabbing for months? Is it because of the Super Bowl week fallout with Jim Irsay? Is it because an impending divorce is imminent? Does this confirm that Peyton and Irsay have already spoken with this week (which Peyton said he expected), and that we should be hearing something soon regarding Peyton's future?
Questions, questions, and questions galore!

Mike Florio provides some reasoning for why Peyton is in Carolina:
Also, keep in mind that Manning may only engage in limited activities at the Colts facility. While failing his exit physical allows him to work out under the supervision of doctors and throw balls to trainers, he can’t throw to players and he can’t work directly with coaches.
The main focus for Peyton right now is getting his arm strength back. The neck is stable, or so the doctors have said. There is no fear of Peyton taking a hit and have his spinal cord snap, or something along those lines, because of his neck injury. It's the arm. Bob Kravitz described it as a 'noodle arm' the other day when he was a guest of The Tony Kornheiser Show on 980 ESPN.
Again, it's the arm. If Peyton can't throw like he used to, he's finished as an NFL quarterback.

All the more reason
To draft Luck and cut Manning while we still can.

Of course, it doesn't matter.
Since Manning has zero chance of being on the Colts next year. Seriously, flying unicorns with laser eyes have a better chance of being on the team than he does. I read it on a blog.

Yes, but
can those unicorns play man-to-man? Cause, if they can, well….

No big news here...Duke has one of the best hospitals,
doctors who specialize in neck rehabilitation. My guess is he’s there for the best treatment possible. He’s giving rehab the best chance possible, and that’s no big surprise coming from Manning.
Indy Guy - February 9, 2012
Here is my take on this whole deal
At the Colts facilities, there are only a select few people Manning can throw to, like equipments guys. No other players are there unless they too failed the physical. So, Manning went to Duke to work with a familiar face and to throw with receivers who can actually run routes and get a feel for some timing and such. But to also be evaluated by someone he considers close.

I would also like to mention that
(Tip to Laura again) That Irsay’s plane was in Raleigh-Durham, where Duke is located, on Friday and returned Saturday just after 7PM. May or may not have anything to do with this, but not sure of any other reason why Irsay would be there.
coltsfan723 - February 9, 2012
Dave Calabaro of Channel 13 here in Indy interview Manning SB week
and reported that Manning had said he was throwing routes to Gonzo and Blair. Sounds like he was throwing to players to me.

An additional source on the report, from a February 4th, 2012 Indystar article
here
I think Florio might be mistaken in his interpretation of this particular NFL rule, unless gonzo and white somehow aren’t categorized as Colts players.
BoilerUp1982 - February 9, 2012
It's all speculation...
Who knows Gonzo and White could have went on vacation or something. No one has any clue what is going to happen with Peyton and the Colts. Until Irsay and Manning come out publicly and say it will all be speculation.
VERNON HOWELL - February 9, 2012 via Android app
I don't think it's speculation that he's thrown to Gonzo and Blair
That’s been confirmed by at least 2 sources I’ve found.
BoilerUp1982 - February 9, 2012
exactly all speculation
most likely he will be gone ,,but then again we all had been told Caldwell was being retained,, can’t lose either way either Manning or Luck or both
OBGYNOSUPREME - February 9, 2012
What they can actually do here
is still very limited is the point. At Duke he can go through plays with a full squad. He can’t do that here.
coltsfan723 - February 9, 2012
I understand that
But I’m confused as to why Florio’s reporting that he can’t throw to Colts players when it’s being reported that he has.
BoilerUp1982 - February 9, 2012
Are those players rehabbing (Gonzo and White)? Not sure if that would matter or not.
ColtsFanNChiTown - February 9, 2012
There has to be a small condition or detail that allows Manning to rehab w/ Blair and Gonzo
If he were violating league and/or team rules, there would have been a lot more coverage of these passing sessions.
BoilerUp1982 - February 9, 2012
Maybe...
the Super Bowl was the official end to the season and when all these off season rules come into effect.
JCub3d - February 9, 2012
These are good signs, I don’t know what you guys are talking about.
Fuck Luck! Keep Manning!
KingRichard - February 9, 2012
There is no such thing as 'good signs'
around here when every one has already written the guy off. I don’t understand why.
coltsfan723 - February 9, 2012
Because he may be on the road to recovery but his health is still a question mark.
Its what it comes down to who will start in September 2012 Manning or Luck?
If Manning can’t be game ready by the time his bonus is due then you have your answer.
CF4L - February 9, 2012
Conditioning Coach
Didn’t they get rid of the Conditioning Coach? Meaning Manning didn’t have anyone to help him rehab?? Can anyone confirm or deny that those positions have been filled and he has someone to help him rehab? Maybe that is why he is there… working out with someone he knows and feels comfortable with.
TheSpear - February 9, 2012
Reggie
Reggie Wayne must be gone too since he works out in Miami…..oh wait. Thanks for drawing conclusions for us though, it is helpful.

Tap, tap, Kings X
All negative Peyton rumors are for pee-pee heads. So there.
tim55 - February 9, 2012
In the Manning picture above,
it looks like Peyton is eyeing someone else’s plate of food and he’s about ready to ask, ‘Are you going to eat that?’
Ayrshire - February 10, 2012
hahaha it does
probably some delicious gumbo just out of frame
