'OK everyone, smile awkwardly as we try to smooth this over...'
This photo, along with this posting on Colts.com, were the announcements Colts owner Jim Irsay said would be coming today in response to two doctors decreeing yesterday that Peyton Manning was medically cleared to play.
The full announcement:
Peyton Manning, Jim Irsay and the entire Colts family remain close and unified as we continue to work through all the options that relate to his future with the Colts.
Yep, that's pretty much it. One sentence, and then a very weird photo from a Super Bowl party in Indianapolis last night featuring Irsay, Roger Goodell, former US Senator Evan Bayh, John Mellencamp, and... Meg Ryan? Yes, Meg Ryan. She's the blonde on the far left who looks as if someone farted. Meg and John 'Cougar' are an item, or so I'm told.
Anyway, nothing in this statement further explains Irsay's tweet last night which directly countered the statements made by Peyton's doctors. Irsay dumped this on Twitter last night at 1:30 am:
Peyton has not passed our physical nor has he been cleared to play for The Indianapolis Colts. Team statement coming on Friday.

The team 'announcement' today gave no elaboration on this, no update on Manning's true health, and no further insight into Manning's status with the team.
Basically, a waste of time, and an excuse to post a very bizarre photo showing Peyton looking about as thrilled to be there as his brother was to be drafted by the Chargers in 2004.

I can see Irsay saying “hurry, now, quick take the picture!” And then in his head right after thinking, “Alright we got it, this picture could come in handy with this PR battle with Peyton!”

That for sure is an awkward looking pose….but none of this would be going on at all if it was not for the media printing and Tweeting and posting every time the Manning breaths….trying to make a giant story out of every move and every word Irsay or Manning make….twist the words…make comments on every photo when Manning and Irsay say nothing about that photo…….every Tweet…like the whole world is going to change on every move made….and saying stuff like they are making the Super Bowl and Eli take a back seat…..no….they are not doing crap….the media is the one that makes up those words and throws it out for the world to talk about….you do not see Manny calling a news conference every day to make a statement….what has he spoken one time…Irsay tweeted 3-4 times….it is always the media stirring up the pot with nothing but their opinions….and they have no more idea what is going on than the man in the moon….it has been the media doing this for months now….even Luck has said he has no issue learning from Manning but no…..the media has to blow that all up and day they could never be on the same team and co exist…and in all of this the media tried to pass the blame and start up crap saying that Irsay and Manning are trying to ruin the Super Bowl and they are doing this and that….WRONG….

“The present focus is on the Super Bowl and the great game that awaits.”
What else do the Colts and Manning have to say to get people to understand that the present focus has been the SB and not Peyton’s neck/contract status? Jeez…
