Last week, Indianapolis Star columnist Bob Kravitz broke this news on Twitter:
Andrew Luck was willing to throw for teams (Colts) at the combine, but was told by teams (Colts) just to throw at pro day March 22.

Today, Andrew Luck's people are saying the de facto No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft might indeed throw. Luck is training in California with quarterback guru George Whitfield, the guy who got Cam Newton ready for last year's Scouting Combine. Whitfield spoke to ESPN's Joe Schad recently:
"There are things he wants to work on, but this is refinement not an installation or a surgery," Whitfield said. "It's about getting reps and he's really a marvel to watch. Very sound. Very consistent. Physically impressive. A power guy. A strong guy which people underestimate. One thing we've been doing is working the throws out on the perimeter -- those throws outside the hash marks."
Whether Luck will throw at the combine is uncertain, but Whitfield said Luck is prepared to throw in Indianapolis and would perform well if he did throw.
If Luck throws at the Combine, that will be some pretty serious egg on Kravitz's beard.

However, it's also possible that Luck might throw just to destroy the impression that is out there that he is already following the marching owners of Colts ownership. Luck might also just be naturally rebellious. The Colts probably told him not to throw, and their media mouthpiece (Kravitz) tossed that info out into the Twitterverse for morons like me to eat up. Luck saw it, said 'Oh hell no!' out loud, called Whitfield, and then started getting ready to throw at the Combine.
Yeah, something like that, I'm sure.
Regardless of what is going on behind the scenes, I hope Luck throws. All of us want to see how he will deal with the scrutiny that comes with being a No. 1 pick. The Combine is a big part of that. Peyton Manning threw at his Combine in 1998. It only makes sense for Luck to do the same.

whats wrong with that?

Keeping the beard shaved should be part of his contract.
I’m only half joking.

AHAHAHA!
I did a google image search for the old Tom Hanks movie “The Burbs” cause with the neck beard he looks like the creepy guy with red hair. And I actually came across a photo of Andrew Luck, a blog writer thought the very same thing. LOL too f’n funny.

I don't see any point in him throwing.
That’s what a pro day is for. I don’t really care either way. But lots of top QB prospects choose not to throw.

Common sense
Common sense suggests that you throw to WRs as a top QB prospect to WRs you are familiar with, that you practice with all the time, and that would be what you will be doing at the next level.
So, that is why top QB prospects, who have more to lose than gain will not throw to unfamiliar wideouts at the combine. The ones like Tebow etc. who have to prove something, will be the ones that would be more likely to throw.
Cam Newton had a bad combine but was lights out at his Pro Day. Luck and RG3 should just sit out the throwing drills at the combine at a minimum.

I understand the top prospects not wanting to throw if they don't have to
but I don’t understand why the Colts would – according to Senor Kravitz – tell Andrew Luck not to throw. Luck isn’t under contract with the Colts, and I don’t think it’s a good start to a relationship to have the Colts already dictating such things to A. Luck.
Personally, I don’t think that the language of the report is accurate from Kravitz. I don’t think that the Colts would come out and say to Luck:
I find it more likely that the Colts told Luck that he doesn’t have throw at the combine, and that throwing only on his ProDay would be enough for them. I highly doubt they outright told him not to throw at the combine. Credit that language to Bob Kravitz and the spin he felt the story needed to pick up national traction.
BoilerUp1982 - February 22, 2012
I'm sure that's how the Colts handled it...
but that doesn’t get Kravitz the page views he needs to keep his job.

Luck had WRs in college?? ahahahah I think their receiving corps was exclusively TEs this year :-)

Good for him - he aint no Diva
Luck throwing would say a lot about him – he believes he should earn his status, not just sit on a pedestal. That attitude should be applauded. So what if other top QBs don’t throw? – Luck still wants to prove he is a top QB. Also about what chad72 said about unfamiliar receivers… Luck wants to show he can make throws no matter the receiver – and he can. So go for it kid
DoItAlone - February 22, 2012
Luck is a lock for the #1 pick
He could drop kick the balls at the receivers and it would not harm his draft stock
BigBrueShoe - February 22, 2012 via Android app
how good is he?
What is he good at? I dont understand why everyone is saying how good he is…Is he just good at checking down in college or is there certain throws that make him great in college?
