Weinke: One Year Removed from Fusion Wins Heisman and NC

Chris Weinke had the same surgery as Peyton Manning, to the point he had to "re-teach" himself how to even throw the football.

And a year later he wins the Heisman Trophy and leads Florida State to the National Championship.

Something to ponder in all of the "let's dump Peyton Manning" discussions on this page.

Kelvin Hayden also had the same surgery

back in "11 after the Jet loss and he made a full recovery, he even got signed by the Falcons. Considered he play a more physical position than Weinke and Manning.

I think Manning will be just fine, to hell with anyone who doesn’t agree.

Wenkie had the surgery in his early 20s. Peyton is 36. Age matters

Not earlys 20's.. Was at 27...

Still, that’s 10 years.

actually its 9 years

Peyton is 35

So it’s 8

i dont want to find the corresponding sad troll face

but thats what should go right here.

ok i found time to do it

eh, I rounded. So sue me

Exactly...

AGE does matter and, to my knowledge, these two guys only had ONE neck surgery…..not FOUR! That’s something else everyone has to remember!

I’m not saying “let’s dump Manning.” As all Colts fans, obviously I love Peyton. But everyone is forgetting that this is his FOURTH surgery….I bet there would be a different kind of conversation if Hayden or Weinke was having his fourth neck surgery. The bottom line is, we can’t pay him all that money and he’s not going to renegoiate. Unfortunely, this is the end of the era…and it shouldn’t be because he doesn’t deserve to go out like this.

Also, there are plenty of ppl close to the situation that say he still doesn’t have feeling in his tricep or throwing hand. YES, he was throwing, but not with the velocity he is use to. That’s the problem…and like all the medical experts say, this feeling may come back in a month, year, two years, etc. or it may not come back ever. It’s not about LET’S DUMP MANNING…it’s looking it realistically and seeing that it’s probably over for him.

Why not get another QB that can lead us to the same success Peyton did?? Not saying he is the next for sure PM, but Luck has A LOT of potential and a passion for the game that we saw when we drafted Peyton.

Procedure != surgery

!= means doesn’t equal

And the first was unrelated.

Ah!

A coder! Nice…

For The Millionth Time, The Issue IS NOT Manning's Health

Manning’s health merely gives Irsay an excuse. The issue is that even were Manning 100% healthy, he is not going to be an elite NFL QB in 4 years because he is 36 years old, and the list of QBs that are extremely effective past 38 is tiny. Were the Colts a contender for anything other than the “championship” of the perennially lousy AFC South, this wouldn’t matter much, but no one can look at that roster and tell me that even Manning in his prime would lead it to a Super Bowl victory.

The Colts had a great run with Manning, but it is time to chase the future. You can either build for titles around a young QB, or you can chase stats and MAYBE a playoff victory with Manning. Luck may not pan out? Well you can replace him in 3-4 years if he doesn’t. Which is when you would have had to replace Manning anyway.

I'm not using hyperbole when I say

That was the worst comment in the history of the Universe!!!

ant really compare those two...

That’s in college, this is the NFL…
