Per usual, Colts owner Jim Irsay has been using Twitter to talk directly to fans. However, since the firing of Bill Polian, Irsay has been a bit more vocal about the internal goings-on at the Colts West 56th Street complex. Last night, Irsay tweeted that, by Monday of next week, he will have interviewed seven possible candidates for the Colts vacant general manager spot. This has led some to believe that Irsay is zeroing in on his target person.

Candidates Irsay is believed to have interviewed (or will interview by Monday) are NY Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross, Falcons director of player personnel Les Snead, Falcons director of college scouting David Caldwell, Cowboys director of scouting Tom Ciskowski, Eagles director of player personnel Ryan Grigson, and CFL G.M. Jim Popp, who works for the Montreal Alouettes.

Also interviewed by Irsay his is current director of player personnel Tom Telesco. Telecso will also interview for the Bears open G.M. spot.

Popp is the choice that seems to jump right out at you. He's not currently working in the NFL, and according to his resume never has. He won four Grey Cups, including one in Baltimore before the Browns Ravens came to town. Popp as a candidate even got Irsay to set up a little Twitter contest to see if fans could guess who he was. The Chicago Tribune reported that Irsay also wants to talk to Patriots director of pro personnel Jason Licht.

I personally have received a tip that the Colts contacted the Saints looking to talk to Saints director of college scouting Rick Reiprish, but I have not had that confirmed yet by the Saints or Colts.
