Now that the Colts now have their new General Manager, and their new Head Coach, it's time to transition fully into draft mode. What better way to do that then with the annual Senior Bowl, which is Saturday afternoon at 4:00 ET on the NFL Network. It's the premiere draft-prep game for seniors to make an impression on actual NFL coaches and scouts, playing against one another. A good number of top prospects will be there, and if you're into the draft even a little bit, you should make a point of watching Saturday afternoon.
The Colts obviously have a boat-load of holes to fill going into 2012, so there are a lot of positions to watch Saturday. In fact, when I sat down to start going through players to watch, I had 61 guys. That's a few too many, but when there are seven positions that I think the Colts will target (not including QB), it's a lot of guys. I narrowed that list down to 25 players that I think we as Colts fans should keep our eye on, and a set of 7 that I feel will definitely be looked at by the Colts.
The positions I initially pulled, in no particular order, are C, OG, WR, DT/NT, DE, OLB, CB, SS. There may be more once we learn about Coordinators, what kinds of schemes they'll run, etc. There's also the uncertainty of several big-name free agents that we don't know about right now, but we will know about before the draft. I made the list broad, with the assumption it'll probably shrink as we get close to the draft.
After the jump I have a table of all guys to take a look at, as well as a quick blurb on the top guys for the Colts, at least in my opinion...

Some key players to watch:
Thompson made so many plays in the backfield during 11-on-11 drills that it might be easier to list the times he didn't make a play. He stopped ball carriers. He flushed quarterbacks. He is explosive, strong, and very competitive. Why is the Ravens defense as strong as it is? Haloti Ngata. Love Thompson here.
You can check out the full team rosters on the Senior Bowl website: North and South
For coverage, I highly recommend Wes Bunting of National Football Post, James Christensen of NEPatriotsDraft.com (I know, but trust me, great source), and of course our NFL Draft site here on SB Nation Mocking the Draft, where they have tons of content from this week.
I think I'm going to be downtown during the game Saturday, but I'll have an open thread up for people to chat about the game. Anyone else you definitely want to watch for?

CB
Though I agree with some of that talent at CB they are all short. No one over 6’. I also like the idea of bing D Line men. The colts will hopefully put that $28 million to good use with free agency to fill the holes that the draft cannot.

Any thoughts on Poe?
I know he’s not a Senior, and therefor, not in the Senior Bowl. I thought our 2nd round pick was for sure going to be a CB, pre-Pagano. Now, I’m pretty sure it’ll be Poe, Thompson, or Ta’amu

I think...
CB’s are much more common in Free Agency then a stud DT.
The Texans re-vamped their secondary in one off-season by acquiring a stud CB (J. Joseph), a solid Safety (Daniel Manning), and that safety moved a current safety to CB – so essentially 3 new starters in the secondary.

Trumaine Johnson CB Montana
Has anyone seen him play. 6-2, 205 4.52. I have heard good stuff about him. Tallest CB in the draft.

Played
against mostly weak competition but did alright against future NFLers DaRick Rodgers and Justin Hunter. If I remember correctly, he went to Montana due to grades.
I’m all for picking him up in the 3rd or 4th Rd.

Great write-up!
There are plenty of names that haven’t been thrown around, so I’m excited to see these guys in action against each other. My only concern is the same as Mandy’s. If we are playing in more blitz/man coverage packages, do you really think we pick corners who are 5’10"? Britt and Andre Johnson wouldn’t even have to jump.

2 Missing Players
The two players I’m interested in seeing play, bother corners, are Casey Heyward from Vanderbilt and Donnie Fletcher from Boston College. Heyward is probably a top of the third round pick right now and Fletcher is solidly in the fourth.
Personally, I’m a big fan of Fletcher. A senior with consistent production he didn’t have a flashy season but he a quiet but solid season. I think that portends well for a solid NFL career.

Another Name
Malik Jackson from Tennessee can play either DE in a 3-4 or DT in a 4-3. Could probably be picked in the 5th Rd.

MALIK JACKSON
will be drafted, and drafted much higher than most think right now. Definitely one of the most versatile players in the entire draft. He would make for some interesting packages for the Colts D if we can get him. He’ll go easily before the 5th round, mark my words
ZoSo0789 - January 27, 2012
only ways dennard falls into round 2
1) there are less than 5 DBs taken in round 1. which considering the need of starting CBs in the nfl, seems unlikely. this is a deep CB draft class, so its not impossible.
2) he gets injured before the draft
3) he gets arrested before the draft
4) his combine 40 time is abysmal
palewook - January 27, 2012
and he looks totallly horrible at the senior bowl practices
read where scouts were talking about him having to move to safety he looked so bad
