All kinds of rumor and speculation is trickling out of the Indianapolis Colts West 56th Street complex this morning and much of it focuses on the 'big changes' that everyone is expecting with the front office and the coaching staff.
As we noted here, different sources are reporting contradictory information. However, a few consistent themes are emerging:
The news craziness started early this morning when Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted that he'd listened to the fans and that their opinions were noted. All season long, fans have screamed for the removal of the Polians and Caldwell.
As of right now, we have no official announcement from the Colts. Jim Caldwell is still scheduled to meet with the press at 12:30 p.m. ET.
[UPDATE]: From ESPN's Paul Kuharsky:
Caldwell to talk at 12:30 ET. I see 3 options. They announce moves then. He talks then & stays. He talks then and news comes Tues.
[UPDATE 2]: S.I.'s Will Carroll just tweeted this:
Hearing Colts "staff" let go - trying to figure out if that's just coaching staff or if it goes deeper.

wow
that press conference should be interesting…
Keysta101 - January 2, 2012
It would be damn cool if Irsay showed up at 12:30 and said the whole lot had been fired!
2-14= not acceptable
VermVerm - January 2, 2012
it would be funny if Irsay showed up and said
Peyton Manning and now in charge of all Colts operation
Keysta101 - January 2, 2012
that would be a nightmare
omahacolt - January 2, 2012
and we're also giving him a key to the city

BBS, why are you making new posts every 10 minutes for the same rumors?
Ty46 - January 2, 2012
This is what happens
When BBS has a chance of being right about something.
gmitch23 - January 2, 2012
it would be great
if the polians got canned and bbs spent the next 3 months taking credit for it. damn that would be hilarious. lots of peoples heads would explode
omahacolt - January 2, 2012
Huh?
We’re updating news from multiple sources with conflicting information. ‘Same rumors’?
Brad Wells - January 2, 2012
Coaching staff, FO changes - these are the same rumors
The sources are mostly just others speculating
Ty46 - January 2, 2012
'The sources are mostly just others speculating'
No, they aren’t. Ignoring you now.
Brad Wells - January 2, 2012
What do you expect from a blog?
This is a huge day for the Colts. What are you expecting to see? More on Andrew Luck? I personally want to see anything and everything possibly coming from Colts Nation.
trevcam11 - January 2, 2012
That picture is hilarious...
Could the Polians look more like aholes?
Yougotme - January 2, 2012
FWIW
Polian and Fisher were on the competition committee for years and I’m sure have much respect for one another. So I wouldn’t be surpised if he comes in with Polians approval. If Polian doesn’t like it, then you know for sure Irsay would override it.

Thank you
Amazing how much shit people give me for doing what they come here to get: Information.
Brad Wells - January 2, 2012
yeah man
this is when you are at your best. gathering info and firing it off
omahacolt - January 2, 2012
If things go down like this I wouldn’t mind seeing Tressel as head coach. I know that is blaspheme as a fan of another B10 team he is the kind of CEO type coach that works in the NFL these days. You would then need to hire an excellent DC like Spagnuolo to run the defense so Tressel, Christianson, and Manning/Luck can run the O.
bbxxj - January 2, 2012 via mobile
Trust me
You don’t wanna see a Tressel-influenced offense.
IrishColts17 - January 2, 2012
no get rid of Christianson
Phillycolt - January 2, 2012
At first glance I thought those were the Polian's faces after being told they were fired
Now I realize those are their permanent as***le faces
SpanishColtsFan - January 2, 2012 via mobile
REC
VermVerm - January 2, 2012
"REC"
Judging by the amount of rec’s on SpanishColtsFan’s post…
DonkeyBoner - January 2, 2012
I think it would be even funnier if...
Irsay shows up and says the supports the whole lot. In that case I’d like to see BRAD’S face. I picture it exploding just like the Chappell Show’s ‘Black White Supremecist’ episode.
The option I didn’t see listed here is that Caldwell resigns and announces he’s seeking or has accepted the Penn St. job.
Mark Olson - January 2, 2012
hah
when that guy’s head explodes, the first time i saw that i was laughing hysterically. absolutely hilarious episode!!
ColtKing - January 2, 2012
I think Caldwell would do ok at Penn State they need calm out there right now
armycolts25 - January 2, 2012
Also, could we hire the Penn state LBer coach?
Ty46 - January 2, 2012
Title says Caldwell fired.
It’s not official yet. How about waiting before posting false information. Sure it may turn out to be true but you’re still jumping the gun.

That is why it says "report:"
Otherwise, it would say “OFFICIAL”
Peter Storgaard - January 2, 2012
Steve Spagnuolo..
For DC
BleedingBlueAndWhite - January 2, 2012
anywhere we can watch this press conference live?
miketyson - January 2, 2012
Caldwell will resign, Irsay has too much respect for him
Like I said above, I think Caldwell will be asked to resign opposed to being fired. It’s semantics I know, but it just makes a lot of sense. It also would go along with Caldwell still having a 1230 press conference.
Mark Olson - January 2, 2012
smart thinking- hope you are right
He may stay as QB coach
VermVerm - January 2, 2012
that could cause way too many problems
omahacolt - January 2, 2012
not if Caldwell is as good a guy as reported
VermVerm - January 2, 2012
its not all about caldwell
omahacolt - January 2, 2012
i doubt it would happen as well...
…but i don’t think it is impossible. does caldwell think he’s got another shot at head coach in the.nfl? i would doubt that seriously
ColtKing - January 2, 2012
Is there a way to watch the presser?
The Learned Hand - January 2, 2012
Plus it may make PM very happy
VermVerm - January 2, 2012
anyone have a link to watch the presser?
dkloster3 - January 2, 2012
Polian shut down the internet, he will replace SOPA after being fired
Ty46 - January 2, 2012
he invented the internet, so he can shut it down..

That was Al Gore

VermVerm - January 2, 2012
@JimIrsay- If you listened to the fans why is Caldwell still doing a press conference?
VermVerm - January 2, 2012
we didn't get our quota of 'obviously' and 'certainly' during the season.

So is Phil Wilson
and from his tweets, it sounds like he is either at the conference or watching it.

Bromantic - January 2, 2012
Of course they don't need a culture change
They just need Manning back so they can all sit back and ride his coat tales like they have been for the past 14 yrs. This past season should be a big reality check for Irsay to realize how questionable the entire coaching staff and organization is. Teams all around the league are firing coaches who had better seasons then we did. Hopefully Irsay doesn’t drag his feet on this. If he is gonna fire people he needs to do it now so he has time to hire who he wants and who this team needs. Not wait and pick from who is left after the other teams rebuild first.
Colts Forever - January 2, 2012
I can understand waiting a week
There will be no significant difference in firing Caldwell now or in a week. Same for the Polians. This is a big decision.
Bromantic - January 2, 2012
'we don't need a culture change'.....
delusional Caldwell just keeps going and going with the insanity…

skywalker - January 2, 2012
Wow I can't believe 2-14 and no changes..what a joke
Caldwell failed to change anything once he knew Manning was out, it it the Coaches job to put his players in a position to win, HE DID NOT DO THIS. He failed to change game plans or even remove players that were playing badly until the damage was to far along to do any good. How does he keep his job ?
armycolts25 - January 2, 2012
It's because
WE’RE ONE DAMN DAY PAST THE REGULAR SEASON.
Patience, young grasshoppah.
DonkeyBoner - January 2, 2012
Yeah, and it has come as a surprise
Colts all of sudden 2-14. Jim Irsay had no warning at 0-13.
